38-year-old Doreen Lugaliki becomes first Kenyan doctor to succumb to COVID-19

Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has mourned the death of Dr. Doreen Lugaliki who has  succumbed to the new coronavirus.

In a post on social media, KMPDU said Dr.Lugaliki contracted the virus while at work, reiterating on the need for the government to protect frontline workers.

Dr.Lugaliki served as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at The Nairobi South Hospital and had been admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital ICU unit.

The 38-year-old doctor becomes the first Kenyan doctor to succumb to the novel coronavirus.

Her colleagues led by Dr Ouma Oluga described the deceased as a diligent doctor whose best years were yet to come.
