Homicide detectives probing the murder of a suspect at Mbururu police post in Kakamega County have narrowed down to a possible seven suspects, mostly police officers believed to have tortured 31-year-old Dennis Lusava to death.

The investigators led by the head of homicide from Nairobi interrogated several police officers and locals who claim police flogging has been the norm for petty offenders.

An autopsy revealed that 31-year-old Lusava lost his life to repeated blunt force trauma.

Sources privy to the high level investigations revealed to Citizen TV that detectives believe Lusava was tortured by 7 police officers wielding clubs and whips; this conclusion being informed by the recovery of five anti-riot clubs and two electricity cables believed to have been used to whip the suspect.

Several police officers from Mbururu police post have been interrogated to shed light on the events leading to his arrest and subsequent disappearance from the police post.

The detectives are also trailing a vehicle suspected to have transported Lusava’s body from Mbururu police station to Webuye where it was dumped along the banks of River Nzoia.

Lusava is reported to have been arrested on October 7, 2020 for failure to wear a mask in public, he disappeared a day later only for his body to be recovered on October 11 in Webuye
