Kenya’s richest female musician cum businesswoman Esther Akoth aka Akothee is in 2020 celebrating her birthday in a special way with the needy this year.
The Akothee Foundation CEO, famed for her charitable spirit, purchased maize flour worth over Sh500,000 for the Emergency Relief and Household support program.
Making the announcement on Instagram, Akothee explained that she opted to celebrate her birthday with the less fortunate in the community and that 100 bags have already been dispatched to Kilifi.
“I am here on behalf of @akotheefoundation to purchase maize flour worth 500,000ksh which will be driven towards the Emergency Relief & Household support program from @ungawadola, we have already delivered 100 bags to @kilificounty_003. The rest will go to Kibera, Kisumu, Turkana and Migori.
“The month of April being my birthday month and most of my family members, I saw it prudent not to celebrate my birthday alone but to share with the community and right now I have donated 100 bales of Unga to Kilifi County courtesy of Akothee the artist and from Akothee Foundation.”
The Lotto crooner also thanked her fans for their continued support adding that it through them that she has been able to marshal resources and lend a helping hand to others.
“Thank you for so much being a supporter of my music because it is through my music that I have been able to raise some money to support the needy.
She at the same time called upon willing Kenyans to make donations as the country continues to fight against coronavirus pandemic.
“As you think of your families during the lockdown, also remember those who live from hand to mouth and vulnerable communities, @akotheefoundation @tuskysofficial, please shop for just one family and drop at our shopping basket at the Tuskys Mtwapa Mall entrance @akotheefoundation God bless, she wrote.
Masks and disinfectants
Not too long ago, Akothee offered to donate masks and disinfectants to families unable to afford the necessary precautionary supplies.
The mother of five took to her Instagram requesting female suppliers to reach out to her.
“What world would we have if all women accepted that we are women and can do great things together to support our community, I need sanitizers and liquid soaps to go and distribute to those who have no idea of what’s going on in the world. Where can I buy the masks?” Wrote Akothee.
“Where are those women who manufacture homemade soaps, let me be your customers today, I know that business so msinigonge, I know the price, please if you have some drop in on inbox with the price, thank you @akotheefoundation, let’s start with 10 litres packed in small containers,” she continued.
