Brookhouse School parents move to court after being asked to pay full fees

Brookhouse School parents have now taken to court to protest a decision by the management requiring them to pay full school fees.

The parents, in a petition filed at the Milimani Law Courts, want the school stopped from demanding full fees for term 3 saying they can only pay 30%.

They argued that offering “online classes” or “virtual classes” at the same rate as the normal session amounts to contravention of consumer rights between the school and parents.

They further termed the action as a violation of the constitution saying it is “unfair, unconscionable and unlawful.”

According to them, the quality of education being conducted through email, unregulated online platforms and the 20 minutes free Zoom lessons by the school is “wanting” and is not commensurate to the fees they are required to pay.

“…other schools offering a similar curriculum have made a considerable discount to parents in view of the deleterious effects of Covid-19 pandemic,” read court papers.
