A car that was transporting bhang in the wee hours of Tuesday morning collided with an oil tanker at the Mtito Andei along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.
The car which was ferrying the narcotics of unknown value also hit another truck after it was pushed back to the road by the first impact.
It had veered off the road hitting the oil tanker with witnesses saying the car burst into flames shortly after.
Speaking to the Nation, Kibwezi Sub-County Police Commander Ben Changulo said officers had recovered bhang from the burning car and would it be using as exhibit in court.
At the same time, he said the driver of the car had sustained serious injuries and fractures and was currently receiving medical care at the Mtito Andei health centre.
“The driver of motor vehicle KCA 783R, James Ochieng Ombok, sustained fractures on both legs and cuts on the head and was rescued before the vehicle burst into flames and burned into a shell. He was rushed to Mtito Andei Health Centre for treatment,” Changulo told the Nation.
