These days, I’ve pretty much skipped out on jeans or anything too stiff and fussy. While that meant pajama pants and sweats for the longest time, I’ve moved onto another level of comfort. Think pull-on linen pants, cargo joggers, silky skirts, breezy shirt dresses, and biker shorts – basically anything that rules out your typical loungewear pants. Get creative enough and your options for casual cool outfits at home are virtually endless, but if you need a little inspo I rounded up 6 combos you can get on board with right now.
1. Shirt Dress
I’m always up for a no-pants situation, so one of my foolproof looks is the shirt dress. It’s fuss-free, easy to throw on, and looks instantly chic.
Plus, you can dress it up further with accessories like layered gold chain necklaces, crystal-adorned bobby pins, or statement earrings.
I’m also loving a range of styles that include button-down pieces and t-shirt style dresses. Your pairings are endless too when it comes to footwear.
2. Knit Pants + Knit Top
If you don’t necessarily want to give up your loungewear pants completely, then knit pants with a matching knit top is the combo to try. Nastygal currently has several cute options to shop for under $50 – I linked my favorites below. But keep in mind that this trend is currently flying off shelves so if you see something you like, grab it ASAP. Style them with kitten heels for an elevated vibe.
3. Pull-On Trousers + Basic Tee or Ribbed Tank
One pant trend I’ve been completely on board with from the get-go are pull-on trousers. Luckily, we’re headed into warm weather season so there’s an abundance of styles to choose from. These linen trousers and these culottes are so stylish yet easy breezy. You won’t even realize you’re wearing seemingly tailored pants. Dress it up with a puff-sleeve top or keep it casual with a ribbed knit tank top. It’s a look that you can wear now and later too!
4. Biker Shorts + Button Down Shirt
One of my favorite casual cool outfits of the season are biker shorts and a button-down. Tailored bermuda shorts work too but if you’re opting for maximum comfort, biker shorts are the way to go. You can wear your button-down with one side tucked in, knotted at the waist, or just hanging loose. Check out my TikTok for an easy tip to get the perfect knot.
5. Cargo Joggers + Bodysuit
When I want an edgy, urban look, cargo jogger pants come to the rescue. Opt for muted colors like brown, cream, olive green or black for maximum versatility and ease of wear. Adding heels also hide the fact that you’re wearing anything remotely similar to sweats.
6. Satin Skirt + Cardigan
This combo is probably the dressier of these outfits but it’s still simple and easy enough to wear. You probably already own a ubiquitous satin skirt. All you need to add to upgrade it is a fitted cardigan. Wear it half-way buttoned for an undone yet understatedly sexy ensemble.
What casual cool outfits have you been wearing besides sweats and loungewear?
