It was a tragic and harrowing moment as the Denmark midfielder collapsed on the pitch during the game, bringing a frantic reaction from every player and match official involved in the match. The game was suspended as the Danish players formed a shield around Eriksen to give him privacy as the medical staff worked to try and resuscitate him.

UEFA have confirmed that they have suspended the Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland after Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed during the match.
It happened just before half-time when Eriksen suddenly collapsed without any players directly near him.Immediately Finnish and Danish players and referee Anthony Taylor motioned that something was seriously wrong.
The medical staff were on the scene instantly and began trying to resuscitate Eriksen as his team-mates surrounded him.After a number of minutes UEFA announced that the game was suspended, with the Finnish players and match officials returning to the changing rooms as the Danish players stayed on the pitch with Eriksen.

Eventually, Eriksen left the pitch conscious and in a stable condition.A Reuters journalist reported that Eriksen had raised his hand to the crowd as he was taken off, and a picture from Getty showed Eriksen conscious as he was wheeled off.
UEFA later confirmed that he was stable and had been taken to a local hospital.The Danish Football Association tweeted: “Christian Eriksen is awake and is waiting for further examinations at Rigshospitalet. The match is temporarily postponed.”
The governing body added that there will be a crisis meeting between the two teams and match officials to decide the next steps.
An announcement will be made at 18:45 GMT.

Denmark’s Christian Eriksen stable after collapsing, receiving CPR as Euro 2020 game with Finland suspended

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen is stable in hospital after collapsing on the field during the Euro 2020 opener with Finland as he went to take a throw-in.

“I just spoke to Christian’s father, and he told me that he is breathing, and that he is able to speak,” Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots told Dutch radio.

Eriksen was walking towards the sideline and was clearly struggling to make his way across. As the ball was thrown in his direction, it hit him and he fell to the ground. Teammates Martin Braithwaite and Thomas Delaney rushed to assist him, with Delaney beckoning furiously for medical assistance.

Medics ran on to the field to help the Inter Milan midfielder as he lay stricken on the ground with his Denmark teammates in clear distress.

Eriksen received medical attention on the field for 10 minutes with players from both sides looking on with concern as CPR was administered.

The match was officially suspended due to a medical emergency on 42 minutes with the score at 0-0.

“Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 7:45 p.m. CET (1.45 p.m. ET),” a UEFA statement read. “The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.”

Denmark confirmed in a statement that Eriksen had been taken to a Copenhagen hospital for further examination and the match will restart at 8.30 p.m. CET (2.30 p.m. ET).
