Court frees Kianjokoma six officers on bail

Six police officers charged with the murder of the Kianjokoma brothers have been freed on a Ksh. 300,000 cash bail each,  by a Nairobi court.

They have also been forbidden from going to Kianjokoma in Embu, where the murder of the two brothers took place.

The six; Benson Mbuthia, Consolota Kariuki, Nicholas Cheruiyot, Martin Wanyama, Lilian Cherono and James Mwanikiwere were charged with two counts of murder each.

They previously  pleaded not guilty before justice Daniel Ogembo.

According to sources, the two brothers were arrested by police officers from the Manyatta Police Station on Sunday, August 1, 2021, for breaking the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew in the Kianjokoma retail complex.

The family explored many police stations in Embu the next day after their incarceration, but their efforts were in vain.

After being referred back by Runyejes police station, the family filed a missing person’s report at Manyatta Police Station on August 3..

They were informed that Benson and Emmanuel both perished the same day after jumping from a driving police cruiser. The bodies were discovered at the Embu Level 5 Hospital mortuary.

They were then ushered in the front seat of the police land cruiser.

When those arrested arrived at the Manyatta station, they were asked to alight; however, the two brothers did not.

Benson and Emmanuel Ndwiga were laid to rest on Friday, August 13, 2021, in the same grave.
