The Ministry of Health on Thursday announced 1,253 new Coronavirus cases in the country from a sample size of 10,170.
This pushes the number of confirmed cases to 86,383 from 911,596 samples. From the cases recorded today, 26 are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
747 are male while 506 are female. The youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 98 years old.
In terms of distribution of cases per county; Nairobi 326, Mombasa 143, Kilifi 105, Kiambu 86, Murang’a 67, Meru 45, Kirinyaga 43, Makueni 36, Migori 35, Embu 34, Laikipia 32, Nakuru 26, Machakos 25, Kitui 24, Taita Taveta 20, Bungoma 19, Siaya 18, Lamu 17, Nyeri 17, Uasin Gishu 14, Kajiado 13, Garissa 13,
Nandi 12, Kisumu 12, Tharaka Nithi 11, Bomet 11, Homa Bay 10, Busia 7, Kakamega 6, Kwale 6, Samburu 6, Nyandarua 5, Kericho 4, Isiolo 3 and Turkana 2.
While giving the update at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Nairobi, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman also announced 11,324 recoveries, 11,177 from home-based care while 147 were discharged from various hospitals.
He noted that this was the highest number of recoveries recorded in a day ever since the pandemic started and heaped praise on healthcare workers for their dedication in containing the virus.
This pushes the total number of recoveries to 67,788.
Sadly, 16 patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the fatalities to 1,500. Currently there are 1,200 patients admitted in various health facilities throughout the country with 7,755 on homebased isolation and care.
73 of those in health facilities are in ICU, 31 of whom are on ventilatory support and 41 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 77 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, 61 in the general ward and 16 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
