As Kenyans take into account the newly-introduced tougher Covid-19 measures, some 2,008 more people have tested positive for the disease today.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said this was from a sample size of 11,360 tested in the last 24 hours.
The country’s positivity rate now stands at 17.7 per cent.
There are now 128,178 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 1,455,061 cumulative tests conducted so far since the onset of the disease last year in March.
In an earlier address by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, Nairobi County accounts for close to 60 per cent of the recorded cases.
“What this means is that, out of every ten positive cases countrywide, six are from Nairobi,” Uhuru noted.
Today, it has posted 1,071 of the confirmed cases.
1,954 of the newest statistics are Kenyans and fifty-four are foreigners. 1,090 are men while 918 are women.
In a circular, CS Kagwe announced that two hundred and forty-five patients have also recovered from the disease today, pushing the tally to 91,513.
“165 from the Home Based Care and Isolation while eighty have been discharged from various hospitals,” Kagwe said.
The country has lost six more patients to Covid-19, pushing fatalities to 2,098.
“Six deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours all of which are late deaths reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates,” he said.
Further, 1,192 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 3,777 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and twenty-four of those are in the ICU, 37 of whom are on ventilatory support and 78 on supplemental oxygen. Some nine patients are on observation.
Same as yesterday, 81 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen. Sixty-eight are in the general wards and thirteen in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
As at March 26, 2021, Kenya has vaccinated 90,340 people.
Earlier, the president and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta received the AstraZeneca vaccine at State House, Nairobi, as he urged all Cabinet members to follow suit.
