‘Enough is enough,’ PS Kibicho now says as he records statement against Mike Sonko

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho now says he has had enough of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s attempts to assassinate his character, adding that he has already recorded a statement against him at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

This comes a day after Sonko, during a rally at Dagoretti South, claimed that himself alongside PS Kibicho and persons he referred to as the ‘Deep State’ in 2017 stage-managed destruction of vehicles and laid the blame on the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party so as to ruin its public image.

The PS, addressing the press at his office, sought to clarify that he was not summoned by the DCI following Sonko’s allegations but rather that he went there as a personal decision to record a statement against the former governor.

He stated that the burden of proof now rests on Sonko’s shoulders, further urging the DCI to move with speed to ensure he gets justice and is vindicated from the claims.

“I’ve seen some insinuation that, after Sonko made the wild allegations he did yesterday, I was summoned by DCI. To just clear the air, it is me initiating the process of getting my rights as a Kenyan and I walked to DCI to record a statement against Sonko because he needs to come on the table and provide evidence on the criminality he is alleging we committed with him,” said Kibicho.

“I am PS Interior as well, and I expect people who have run out of ideas, when they have problems, they will kind of blame me. And I will as a person check whether there is criminality in the blame or not.”

He added: “Sonko has continued assassination of my character since he left the seat…As a private citizen I have broken the cycle and decided enough is enough…He has made very very wild allegations against me…Sonko should give answers and say where we were in 2017 together with him…He better be prepared, he has admitted to committing crime…He will deal with my character assassination…I’m going for him this week.”

PS Kibicho further stated that Sonko must be held accountable to his actions saying his parents and siblings have been affected by the controversial politician’s allegations.

“He must take responsibility for his utterances…His wild allegations whenever he’s cornered, this time Kibicho will pursue any means…He needs to come on the table and give evidence…I have asked DCI to take the shortest time possible to ensure I get justice as a Kenyan…I can assure you I don’t start something that I don’t finish,” he said.
