Ex-CS Sicily Kariuki Drops Out Of Nyandarua Governor Race

Former Water and Sanitation Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has bowed out of the race for the Nyandarua governor’s seat.

This is following numerous efforts of consensus talks between her and incumbent Governor Francis Kimemia, after previous attempts hit a snag.

Kariuki, addressing a press conference at the Jubilee headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, said that after long and tedious deliberations, she has decided to postpone her quest to lead the people of Nyandarua.

“Just like in the Bible when King Solomon was faced with a dilemma when two ladies were fighting for one baby, I have decided that there is no need to cut the baby into two,” she said.

Accompanied by her husband Kariuki Chege, the former CS asked her supporters to stand steadfast in Jubilee, as she is firmly in the party and supporting the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.

“I will still champion the party interests and the Azimio flag bearer in the upcoming elections, this is not the end of a dream, but a postponement, this was the best for Jubilee, Nyandarua residents and Kenyans at large,” added Kariuki.

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni thanked Kariuki for her decision, praising the method they have used in the nominations.

“Consensus has enabled us to forestall any fall outs within the party, as evidenced by the Sicily decision” Kioni said.
