Fortnite presents ‘Tenet’ trailer, to screen Nolan film this summer

Acclaimed film director and multiple-time Academy Award nominee Christopher Nolan debuted a trailer on Thursday for his newest movie, “Tenet,” in Fortnite.

Nolan’s action thriller is scheduled to be released on July 17 and stars John David Washington, who appeared in “BlacKkKlansman” and “Ballers,” and Robert Pattinson, who starred in “Twilight” and is set to be the next Batman. The movie’s world premiere trailer was part of a 15-minute presentation within Fortnite’s “Party Royale” series, which has also included concerts from Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki and deadmau5.

The event began with an interview with Washington, who seemed genuinely thrilled to participate within the game.

“I’m overwhelmed with joy and humbled to be a part of this community of beautiful people”, said Washington, who also talked about growing up gaming, playing Nintendo Game Boy, Sega Genesis and his all-time favorite game, NFL ESPN 2K5. “It revolutionized the sport as far as the game is concerned. It gave me a greater appreciation for football.”

Washington was once drafted by the then-St. Louis Rams in 2006 and played in NFL Europe for the Rhein Fire in 2007.

After the world premiere trailer aired, Washington stuck around to answer more questions. At the very end, it was announced that a full feature-length film from Nolan’s body of work will be aired in full in Party Royale sometime this summer. My guess: Give me a Batman marathon with another Batman collab in-game.

The “Tenet” trailer world premiere is another example of the robust possibilities for Fortnite with athletes, brands and entertainment, particularly within the “Party Royale” medium.
