The launch of Goop and Proenza Schouler’s athleisure collaboration couldn’t have come at a better time, when we’re all trying to stay motivated about working out at home during these weeks of self-isolation.
Goop’s athletic apparel line, G. Sport, sees new pieces dropping online every four weeks. (This month, for obvious reasons, “the action revolves more around hammocks and Netflix marathons than Reformers and the track.”) But this month also marks G. Sport’s first designer collaboration: with New York-based brand Proenza Schouler, founded by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
“Tapping Jack and Lazaro’s relentless creativity and street-smart aesthetic brought an entirely new, cutting-edge feel to our G. Sport world,” Paltrow said in a press statement. “And the fact that this was their first go at a sporting collection made the collaboration feel even more special—I think the pieces truly speak for themselves.”
The athleisure line includes items like a midi sports bra with mesh detailing, cut-out tops, a lightweight jumpsuit, technical leggings and more. The collaboration marks Proenza Schouler’s first foray into athleisure, which the designers hadn’t previously considered till Paltrow reached out to them with a proposal.
“We’ve been lucky enough to know Gwyneth for some time now and are constantly amazed by the work she is doing at Goop,” McCollough and Hernandez said in a statement. “When she called and asked if we would be interested in working together, we said yes. We love everything about Goop and know so many Proenza Schouler customers who live in both brands. In many ways, we consider Gwyneth to be the ultimate Proenza Schouler woman.”
