The exit of two artists from Bongo Fleva crooner Ali Kiba’s Kings Music label a week ago led to allegations that former Wasafi signee Harmonize was behind the move. Harmonize’s Konde Music Worldwide label was rumoured to have masterminded musicians Killy and Cheed’s move.
According to the allegations, the two upcoming musicians had voiced their desire to part ways with Kings Music and their sentiments reached a confidant of Harmonize, who was previously close to Ali Kiba. She then reportedly capitalised on her closeness to Killy and Cheed, convincing them to desert Kiba for ‘Konde Gang’.
The reports consequently led to an online tiff with fans ganging up to support their artist of choice.
Harmonize’s camp speaks
The rumours prompted Harmonize’s manager Beauty ‘Mjerumani’ Mmary to speak out on the matter.
“There is no truth in the rumours and we cannot sign those artists. Let the two speak, maybe they desire to join Konde Gang. It’s not a bad thing if they want to join us but at the moment, we cannot sign any other artist. We already have one artist and we’re gauging his performance in the market,” she said.
Killy and Cheed announce exit
On April 14 the duo announced exiting Kiba’s label without revealing what prompted the decision.
“I’d like to notify all fans who have supported my music that from today, I’m not a Kings Music signee. I made this decision by myself without anyone influencing me, neither am I under the influence of drugs. This is for the advancement of my music career,” Killy wrote.
He expressed his undying love and gratitude to Kiba, terming him a very important person in his life.
“Inshaallah Mwenyezi Mungu amlipe kwa kila alichonifanyia na kujitolea kwa ajili ya muziki wangu,” he concluded.
Cheed similarly thanked Kiba, requesting the Mac Muga crooner to pray for his music career.
Harmonize, Kiba’s relationship
After Harmonize’s fallout with Diamond Platnumz and shock exit from Wasafi in 2019, he was perceived to be looking to join forces with Kiba.
The perception was further backed by the singer following Kiba on Instagram, a move Kiba did not reciprocate.
Kiba later downplayed the incident, explaining that he had not noticed Harmonize followed him.
“Kuna watu wengi wamen follow so ni vizuri kama pia yeye ameni follow,” he said.
In another incident, a video of Kiba walking out of a funeral soon after Harmonize’s arrival went viral, prompting Kiba to respond. He dismissed any notion of bad blood between them saying that he had arrived earlier and it was just a coincidence Harmonize got there as he was leaving.
