Kenyan content creator Azziad Nasenya has revealed that she almost fell into depression because of the online bullying she experienced at the start of her career.
Azziad, who rose to fame mid-pandemic after a TikTok video of her dancing to Femi One and Mejja’s hit song ‘Utawezana’ went viral, said she was bullied on social media for the first three months that followed that newfound limelight.
The TikTok queen further revealed that were it not for the support shown by her family and friends, she would have fallen into depression.
“It was hard in the beginning because of all the bullying, if you remember for like two to three months, I almost fell into depression but then I was with people who love and care about me and they just helped me to tap out of it,” said Azziad while speaking during the signing of her new deal with Bic on Tuesday.
The fast-rising star also believes she was able to conquer her depression stage because she prays a lot, adding that God cannot give one a challenge they cannot handle.
“I also pray a lot and I believe God cannot give you what you cannot handle and if God says it’s Azziad then it’s going to be Azziad. So I realized God chose me, He decided that the light is going to shine on me so I’m going to go with it,” she said
Azziad, who was unveiled as the newest Bic brand ambassador, is also keen to the fact that she will neither receive love nor hate from everybody.
“At the end of the day even Jesus was criticized so I cannot expect to be perfect. Not everybody is going to love you and not everybody is going to hate you,” said Azziad.
