Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho was on Monday, March 9, grilled by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives over corruption allegations.
The legislator was taken to the EACC offices in Nyeri, where he was interrogated over the questionable use of public resources.
His case has been linked to the unexplained utilization of Ksh120 million from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty.
“The complaints raised against NG-CDF local officials range from fraud, conflict of interest, embezzlement, and misappropriation of public funds between 2013-2018,” a statement released by the EACC reads in part.
Kiaraho is no stranger to controversy, having been accused of misappropriation of funds meant to equip a local school following a fundraiser led by Deputy President William Ruto on November 26, 2018.
Kiaraho gave another million, going on to pledge Ksh10 million from CDF would be directed towards the same project, a promise he failed to keep.
In his defence, the Jubilee MP said that they could not buy the desks until they got the Authority to Incur Expenditure (AIE).
He announced that anybody could verify that the money raised during the harambee was still intact, adding that some of the MP’s were just trying to politicize the entire matter.
