A host of Kenyan music heavy hitters, consisting of both old and new school artists, are set to release a special project in honour of the late legendary musician E-Sir.
A sneak-peek of the initial recording of the project was first disclosed during celebrity couple Nameless and Wahu’s reality show dubbed ‘This Love.’
The musicians involved in the tribute song include industry veterans like Nyashinski, Nameless, Wahu, Wyre, Jua Cali, Big Pin, Mr Lenny, radio host Talia Oyando, and E-Sir’s brother Habib.
New-age superstars featured in the track, which was produced by Motif Di Don, are Nelly the Goon of Ochungulo Family and fast-rising hip hop sensation Trio Mio, who has often time drawn comparison to the Kenyan great E-Sir.
The audio of the song, as it appears, is already complete and the stars are in the process of shooting the video; according to a preview photo and video posted by Nairobi Gossip Club.
The group of the Kenyan all star musicians took a photo together, all holding bandanas with E-Sir’s face printed on them during the shoot.
March 16, 2021 marked 18 years since E-Sir’s demise in a tragic accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on his way back home from a concert in Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
Nameless, real name David Mathenge, was in the vehicle and survived the fatal accident, escaping with just a broken collarbone.
The country was robbed of a star that first stormed the music scene in the early 2000s, and 18 years later his legacy still lives on through his timeless music.
E-Sir, born Issah Mmari Wangui, had a brief but iconic presence in the Kenyan music scene, and is still widely regarded as one of the best rappers to ever emerge from the country.
