Kipchoge Named Tokyo Olympics Best Male Athlete

Double Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge has been named the best male athlete of the Tokyo Olympics by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC)

Kipchoge was feted at the ANOC awards gala held Sunday in Greece at the sidelines of the ANOC General Assembly.

The world marathon record holder successfully retained his marathon gold at the Tokyo Olympics becoming the third person to win back-to-back marathons at the Olympics.

Kipchoge was awarded by the president of Association of National Olympics Committee of Africa, Mr. Mustapha Berraf.

“It is an honour to win the ANOC Award for the Best Male Athlete of the Tokyo Olympics. With so many beautiful performances by so many athletes, I am proud to be the recipient of this award,” said Kipchoge. 

The 36-year-old is also among 10 nominees who will battle it out for this year’s Male World Athlete of the Year award.
