The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to trade Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks — including the No. 4 overall selection in next week’s draft, league sources told ESPN.
The deal represents a monster haul for the Pelicans and David Griffin, their new executive vice president of basketball operations, who maximized the Davis trade without the need to include a third team.
The Boston Celtics had also been engaged in separate talks with the Pelicans for Davis, sources said earlier this week, while the Brooklyn Nets and LA Clippers had interest in Davis but were unable to gather traction in conversations with New Orleans.
The deal can not be finalized until July 1.
