Aside from decorating the home for the holidays, one of the other things that will never fail to get me into the holiday spirit is dressing the part. This year, there may be less holiday parties and gatherings to attend, but we need to try our best to make the most of it! Now is the time to plan your outfit for Christmas Day. My family loves staying cozy in the morning with our holiday pajamas and slippers but come afternoon time, we switch into our festive party outfits. Here are a few Christmas outfits you can use as an inspiration for your own Christmas Day plans!
Evergreen
Why not look to our Christmas trees for holiday outfit inspiration? A dark, forest green makes for a chic, festive look. One of my go-to pieces on days when I want to look put together but still want to be comfortable are sweater dresses. These are a must during the winter. However, you can also play with a little monochrome magic by layering on an evergreen puffer coat for texture and contrast. As for the footwear, opt for some knee-high boots for additional warmth. If you are tired of wearing bright red for Christmas, I promise this dark green is your answer!
Dark Glam
If you cannot help but gravitate towards black for any occasion, here is your outfit inspiration. You can still get into the holiday spirit in an all black outfit by incorporating some sparkle.
Slip into a dark party dress festooned with sequins this holiday for an outfit that is simultaneously vampy and merry! You could also throw in a pop of color in the form of a brightly hued handbag or heel to break up the all-black just a little bit.
Luxe Faux-Fur
For my glam girls, Christmas outfits don’t get any more luxurious than some faux-fur. If you have more swanky holiday plans that include unwrapping gifts and sipping champagne, then this is the look for you! A soft, faux-fur coat is just the perfect outerwear item to layer over a dress, skirt or even to dress up jeans. To accentuate the glam even further, do not forget to add a tasteful smattering of jewelry like a few statement rings and necklace.
Holiday Red
Of course, there is always the option for the classic holiday red which I will never get tired of!
However, for 2020, you can add a contemporary, trendy twist to it by opting for a faux-leather alternative. This fabrication has been a must this season and you can definitely rock it beyond Christmas too. If you do want to add a little bit of glitz to this look, try cinching the waist with a metallic belt.
Put a Bow On It
My last Christmas outfit is all about the bow. This is symbolic to the bows we use to wrap Christmas presents or the bows we use to decorate garlands but now you can wear them! I think this is such a more unique way to add some holiday cheer to your look. In this outfit, I am wearing a glam babydoll dress featuring a statement bow on the front. This look does not have to be in Christmas red or green either! I think the bow itself pays homage to the holiday and is a really fun alternative.
What are some of your favorite Christmas outfits?
