The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has mourned the death of renowned Kenyan actor Charles Bukeko alias Papa Shirandula.
In a statement, MCK said that Mr Bukeko’s charm and wit will be missed on TV screens.
BURIAL PLANS
“He will fondly be remembered for his contribution to the development of the creative arts industry. May his soul rest in peace,” MCK’s statement reads in part.
Many leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, have mourned Mr Bukeko who died on Saturday morning at the Karen Hospital.
His family said that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
Burial plans for Mr Bukeko are already underway.
ROLE MODEL
Separately, Dr Ezekiel Mutua the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has said that the late actor deserves a state burial.
Mutua said the late Bukeko brought so much joy and laughter to Kenyan homes without being vulgar.
“In his simplicity, he exuded greatness and was a role model to many. What a magnificent soul. We shall miss him!” Mutua said.
