NTSA suspends matatu sacco license over harassment – Nairobi News

The authority has confiscated the driver’s license for six months and ordered him to retake driving tests to ascertain his skills.

The tout has also been stripped of his license and ordered to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

NTSA further said that it would investigate the Sacco, test all its drivers and vehicles before deciding whether to suspend it or allow it to continue with its operations.

On January 4, Alice Sanya and Mercy Kiplamai, confronted the tout who wanted to carry excess passengers with no regards to the against COVID-19 rules and regulations.

The two boarded the matatu from Prestige Mall along Ngong Road heading to Ngong Racecourse.

However, in the middle of the journey the conducted added more passengers forcing them to seat three on each row.

“We sat two people each as required but after getting to Adams the conductor insisted on carrying three passengers each,” Sanya said.

When they questioned why the tout was disregarding the Covid-19 rules, the duo were ordered to alight as the conductor threw their luggage out of the vehicle.
