Ralph Lauren announced that the brand has cancelled its April fashion show, which was planned to take place in New York. This show was the brand’s alternative to showing at New York Fashion Week Fall 2020, in an attempt to develop unique experiential shows and maintain freshness. The brand told WWD that this decision has been made as a “precautionary measure, and out of respect for [its] teams, partners and consumers.”
Levi’s and New Balance collaborate on a sneaker
Denim brand Levi’s and activewear label New Balance have teamed up on a limited-supply sneaker, called the Levi’s x New Balance 1300 sneaker. The shoe is the perfect mix of dad style and mid ’80’s retro and arrives in a tan collector’s box. It marries the two brands’ styles through pairing the silhouette of New Balance’s traditional NB 1300 shoe (which is celebrating its 35th anniversary) with Levi’s patch-coloured suede and white deadstock oak denim. Though this shoe is available in a limited quantity, the partnership will be ongoing. “We are excited to bring two iconic American brands together that share the same quality and craftmanship values,” said Joe Grondin, New Balance’s collaboration manager. “We are the first footwear brand to utilize Levi’s ‘orange tab’ label, bringing brand fans a fashion forward silhouette that is brought to life through a unique product story.” The shoe is made in the USA and will be available in Canada at the Toronto Eaton Centre Levi’s store, Haven, Uncle Otis and Ssense.com from March 26.
H&M to launch its full Johanna Ortiz collection
After a pre-drop of four floral dresses in December, the H&M x Johanna Ortiz collection is soon to be available in full, the high street giant announced this week. The entire 19-piece collection includes dramatic silhouettes across dresses, tops, skirts and swimwear, in exotic colours and tropical florals. “The imprint of Colombia – the rhythm of the Salsa dance, the beauty of the elegant orchids and the effortless palm trees dancing in a balmy pink sunset – can be felt in every Johanna Ortiz design. I’m thrilled to be able to infuse this H&M collection with effortless glamour and introduce some Latin American festivity to the H&M customer’s wardrobe. I hope customers wear the pieces barefoot and with a beautiful flower in their hair,” says Johanna Ortiz. The collection will be available in select H&M stores and online starting March 12.
