Dust off the bunting, polish the open-top bus. Liverpool’s title drought is surely, surely coming to an end.
The Reds sit an incredible 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand, having won 19 and drawn one of their first 20 matches.
Without a league crown for three decades, Jurgen Klopp’s men look likely to seal the title with time to spare – and could crush a host of records along the way.
But their next three games look to be some of their tougher fixtures on paper – travelling to Tottenham and Wolves either side of a home game against Manchester United – the only side to take points off them so far this term.
1. Most home wins in a season
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City won 18 of their 19 home games in title-winning efforts in 2005-06, 2010-11 and 2018-19 respectively.
Liverpool have won all their home games so far and will break the record if they complete a clean sweep at Anfield.
2. Most away wins in a season
Manchester City won 16 of their 19 games on the road on their way to winning the title in 2017-18.
Liverpool have 10 away games left and will break the record if they win nine of those.
3. Most wins in a season
And if you combine those…
Manchester City have won 32 of their 38 matches in the last two campaigns – winning the title on each occasion.
Liverpool can afford to not win four of their remaining 18 games and still break this record.
4. Most points in a season
Remarkably, Liverpool already own the third-highest points total in a season – the 97 points they mustered last term in losing out to Manchester City in the title race.
City hold the record having chalked up 100 points in the previous campaign – the only side in Premier League history to reach three figures.
Liverpool can still finish on a possible 112 – meaning they could lose three matches and draw another and still break the record.
5. Most successive home wins
Liverpool are currently two adrift of Manchester City’s record 20 home victories in a row, set between 2011 and 2012.
Victory over Manchester United, Southampton and West Ham will see them surpass City’s run.
6. Most successive wins
Liverpool almost took this record earlier this season, before drawing at Old Trafford.
They had managed 17 Premier League wins in a row up until that point, one short of Manchester City’s 18 the Blues managed between August and December 2017.
Liverpool’s current run stands at 12, meaning victory in their next seven outings will see them claim the record.
7. Fewest defeats in a season
No prizes for guessing this one.
Arsenal’s Invincibles set the record of zero defeats in the 2003-04 season.
Liverpool also matched them last term, losing just once, and are bidding to go one better in the current campaign.
8. Longest unbeaten run
That Arsenal side went 49 matches unbeaten in all.
Klopp’s men need to go another 12 fixtures without defeat to equal that record, which would mean them avoiding defeat at Manchester City. They could then break it against Aston Villa at Anfield the following week.
9. Longest time unbeaten
Arsenal went 537 days between defeats in that 49-match unbeaten run.
Liverpool chalked up a calendar year without a loss after beating Sheffield United on January 2.
They will overtake Arsenal’s number of days during the summer if they manage to go the rest of the current campaign undefeated.
10. Highest points tally after 21 games
And here’s one they could break this weekend.
Liverpool have accumulated 58 points so far and will overtake Manchester City’s total of 59 after 21 games – managed in 2017-18 – with victory at Tottenham on Saturday.
