As the world sits at a standstill, I’m becoming more and more convinced that disconnecting is good. I haven’t had the most balanced life in years since I’m always so focused on building my business and my family that I often put myself on the back burner without even realizing it. I’m sure many women can relate to this. So I wanted to share a quick stay at home self-care guide that can help you refocus and reset.
Note: Sephora’s Spring Sale Event just opened up to everyone today, so take advantage of the savings while you can with the code SPRINGSAVE.
I rarely ever have time for a bath, but I’ve been trying to soak at least once a week. I start by lighting up a candle to set the mood, add a bath bomb or some bath salts, and place a glass of wine beside me. Laying in a hot bath has been shown to help reduce inflammation and give you a better night’s rest. I personally find it calming and soothing for my mental health.
Apply a hair & face mask
I’m sure you guys are already using face masks, but don’t forget to add a hair mask to your routine too. I prefer deep-conditioning, hydrating hair masks since my I’m frequently styling my hair with hot tools and have colored it way too much in my lifetime. Did you know there’s even masks made specifically for your hands and feet? They’re an essential in my self-care guide now that we’re headed into tank tops and sandals season.
Try a facial massage
I love that ancient Chinese rituals are becoming relevant in the west – like Jade rollers and gua shas. Both are popular for facial sculpting, relieving muscle tension, and lymphatic circulation. It just doesn’t feel good but helps your skincare products penetrate deeper. If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon, perhaps now is the time.
Adopt a new skincare routine
This is the perfect time to try out a new skincare routine too now that the weather is changing. I’ve been using the RéVive Skincare line and really enjoy it so far, especially the RéVive Glow Elixir. It’s an intensely hydrating facial oil that’s perfect for when your skin needs an extra oomph. After doing my normal skin-care routine – cleansing with Aveeno Foaming Cleanser, followed by the Cerave Retinol Moisturizing Renewal Cream and then applying the Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream – I apply Glow Elixir directly to my skin for additional radiance. You can also mix it with your favorite base products – or apply it as a highlighter for a customized glow.
Slather the body with a moisturizing treatment
Once you’re out the bath, it’s important that you apply any body oils and/or cream within 5 minutes while your skin is still damp. This helps lock in the most moisture possible. I prefer body oils straight out a shower because it gives my skin a radiant glow. I just stumbled across this body serum and can’t wait to try it. It’s made with antioxidant rich oils and Vitamin C ester.
Give yourself a mani/pedi
Nail shops have been closed for quite some time now so you’re better off learning how to do your own manicure and pedicure at home. Gel nails are best in my opinion because they last the longest. I’ve been using Essie gel nail polish forever now. All you need is an LED Light Cure specifically for nails. If you need to practice your painting skills though, stick to traditional lacquer for now.
Add supplements & vitamins to your diet
Give your health, body, and immune system a boost with supplements. If you haven’t already tried spirulina, you need to. It’s one of the most nutrient-dense foods in existence – just a small amount is packed with various B vitamins, anti-inflammatory properties, and can even lower your blood pressure and body sugar levels. Chlorella is similar to spirulina but is higher in omega-3 fatty acids and other essential minerals. If you’re interested in improving your hair, skin, or gut health, you can check out my other picks below!
I hope you guys enjoyed my self-care guide. Along with the above, don’t forget to meditate and journal daily for the best results. What’s your current self-care routine?
