What are the most popular luxury travel destinations of the year?
Luxury travel agency Virtuoso revealed the most-booked destinations so far this year where their clients are traveling.
These destinations, both in the United States and abroad, are some of the top luxury destinations for 2023.
1. Paris, France
Unsurprisingly, Paris tops the list of the top luxury destinations in the world.
The City of Lights has always been a chic, trendy destination, but its popularity has soared even further among American travelers. This is partially due to the popularity of the hit Netflix show Emily in Paris, which presents an idyllic, romanticized version of the city.
Paris is one of the best destinations in the world for art, culture, history, architecture, fashion, and food. With an abundance of extravagant five-star hotels and world-class luxury shopping, it’s safe to say that Paris continues to be one of the best destinations for luxury travelers.
Currently, bookings for Paris are up 96% compared to 2022, according to Virtuoso, meaning that this is going to be an even bigger year than the last for tourism in Paris.
2. London, England
Another European capital topping the list of the most booked luxury travel destinations in 2023 is London, England.
London is another beautiful city with tons of things to do, from exploring museums, palaces, and gardens, to eating your way through the city’s many incredible restaurants and shopping until you drop.
Although London is a pricy destination, it’s actually on track to be much cheaper than Paris in 2023 for travelers. Currently, luxury hotel prices are 21% cheaper than those of Paris, making London a more affordable luxury destination.
3. New York, New York
When it comes to travel in the United States, New York City tops the list of luxury travel destinations.
New York is known for being the cultural capital of the United States, with incredible museums, Broadway shows, and diverse neighborhoods. For luxury travelers, New York is also home to some of the best restaurants, shopping, and five-star hotels in the world.
4. Las Vegas, Nevada
Another popular destination for luxury travel in the United States is Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas is known for its glitzy hotels and casinos, meaning that a trip to the City of Sin can end up costing you even more than you expected. Even if you don’t plan to be a high roller at the casino of Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas is still a great luxury destination.
In addition to casinos, the city has become known for its great dining, entertainment, and nightlife.
5. Nassau, Bahamas
One of the top luxury destinations in the Caribbean is the Bahamas.
The Bahamas is just a short flight from the United States, and it offers travelers white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Nassau is also known for having a number of high-end resorts, restaurants, and shopping.
6. Rome, Italy
Rome is another one of the top destinations in Europe for luxury travelers this year. The Eternal City attracts visitors with its incredible history, amazing food, and romantic atmosphere.
The Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Roman Forum are just a few of the ancient sites in Rome to check out, while the happening Trastevere neighborhood is known for its incredible restaurants.
Rome is actually a more affordable luxury destination in Europe compared to others on this list, with average hotel prices coming in at 30% less than those of Paris.
