Trouble at Chulaimbo Boys over students suspended for allegedly stealing chapati

Three students at Chulaimbo boys’ secondary school in Kisumu West Sub County have been suspended for allegedly stealing chapati from the school canteen.

The Form Three students have been suspended for two weeks.

According to one of the guardians, she was called to the school on Wednesday by the deputy principal over the conduct of her son.

She says upon arriving at the school, she was informed that the boy was part of a group that has been stealing missing chapatti from the school canteen.

The teachers reportedly told her that her son and two others were caught red-handed next to the school canteen with the intention of breaking in.

She says the school authorities allege that the canteen has been losing close to 200 chapatis under mysterious circumstances in the last one week alone.

According to her, the alleged offense sounded ridiculous but the teachers led by the deputy principal were apparently hell-bent on sending the boy home.

She was informed that the school committee will decide his fate afterwhich she will be notified via a phone call.

Radio Ramogi contacted Kisumu West sub county Education Officer Mary Moraa Ochoe who expressed shock at the incident saying the alleged action does not warrant such a decision.

She said she would get in touch with the school management and find out what transpired but maintained that the decision to suspend the students was wrong.
