Walt Harris was stopped by Alistair Overeem in the second round in the UFC Fight Night main event on Saturday. But that didn’t diminish his performance in the eyes of his UFC peers.
Many of them, including Harris’ heavyweight division rival Francis Ngannou, took to social media after the fight in Jacksonville, Florida, and heaped praise on “The Big Ticket.” The bout was Harris’ first since his stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard went missing last October and was found dead the following month.
Some of the fighters also commended Overeem not only for his performance but for his sportsmanship, considering the circumstances surrounding Harris.
Im very proud of @thebigticket205. I can’t really imagine what he been through but it must have been hell. Seeing him perform in the Octagon tonight just shows that we can overcome everything when we have a why. #RIPAniah #UFCFL
