When President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived at Harambee House in Nairobi on Sunday to address the nation on the coronavirus pandemic, not everything went as expected.
He did not shake hands with members of his Cabinet, which could be explained as setting an example on avoiding unnecessary contact in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
But what was more startling was his vehicle’s front number plate, which was fixed upside down, and instead of KCW 980H it appeared as H086 MƆʞ.
How this escaped the keen eye of the President’s handlers and whether it was supposed to mean anything or if it was just an error that could cost someone dearly remains anyone’s guess.
The rear number plate was, however, properly fixed.
Here is what Kenyans on Twitter had to say on the President’s upside down number plate.
“What was the hurry for then put president’s numberplate upside-down,” posed Kidunduhu Babu.
“Definitely this has a meaning, it depicts how the government has failed terribly, govt functions and priorities upside down,” said Stinger.
Another online user added: “The president himself is in panic over Corona… Tough days ahead my people.”
“To confuse the virus,” said Victoria Madola.
