Uhuruto political differences play out in public

Chief Administrative Secretary for Public Service and Gender Rachel Shebesh  publicly differed with Kericho Woman Representative Florence Bore over Jubilee succession politics on Wednesday.

As a result, scheduled joint public meetings to distribute funds to youths and women groups under Uwezo Fund in Kericho’s six constituencies – Bureti, Ainamoi, Kipkelion West, Kipkelion East, Soin Sigowett and Belgut – were scuttled.

Ms Shebesh and Ms Bore parted ways after the first function at Chilchila in Kipkelion West constituency after the differences came to fore with each rooting for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto respectively.

“President Kenyatta is unhappy with the insults against him and his family by Emmurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ngeno and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi. As people from Mount Kenya, we are offended and we are not taking it lightly,” said Ms Shebesh.

Ms Shebesh said, “People should stop the insults as the final outcome 2022 Presidential succession politics will be determined by God…Leaders should not insult President Kenyatta…,”

“These insults will bring to an end the political relations between the people of Mount Kenya and Rift Valley…People should seek for votes without attacking our mothers (read Mama Ngina) and family members,” said Ms Shebesh.

On her part Ms Bore attacked Ms Shebesh claiming she had failed to address herself to the insults previously hurled at Deputy President William Ruto by a section of leaders from Mount Kenya and other parts of the country.

“We would not accept your coming here and taking sides on a matter of national interest. Why is it that you have chosen to only speak on the issues relating to President Kenyatta and not the Deputy President (Dr Ruto),” said Ms Bore when she was handed over the microphone by the CAS.

She said much as she did not support the use of abusive language by fellow leaders, President Kenyatta deserved respect alongside Dr Ruto as the top government leaders.

Ms Shebesh later issued cheques to various groups at the County headquarters and toured Huduma Centre in Kericho town before inspecting clean up exercise under Kazi Mtaani program in the company of County Commissioner John Karugo.
