Not satisfied with being one of Africa’s greatest strikers, the former Everton star showed he is also pretty handy at basketball
Yakubu Ayegbeni is a man of many talents.
While he has forged a reputation as a top striker, it appears his basketball skills aren’t too scruffy either.
The 37-year-old, who is Africa’s third-highest goalscorer in Premier League history, is not deterred by the global quarantine caused by the coronavirus, as he swapped the beautiful game for basketball.
Ayegbeni displayed his skill in his improvised court on Saturday, posting footage of himself executing a perfect free throw while sitting.
The ‘Yak’ who began his career at Julius Berger in 1997 and announced his retirement from football at the age of 35 in 2017.
He shot into limelight in the 2002–03 season – scoring seven goals in eight European appearances including a hat-trick against Olympiakos and a penalty in the 3–0 win over Manchester United.
Presently, he is one of the Fifa legends who help to take the beautiful game to distressed countries in conjunction with the Fifa Legends Programme.
