A section of MPs from Western Kenya allied to Deputy President William Ruto have accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of presiding over graft.
The MPs; Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Dan Wanyama (Webuye west) and Mwambu Mabongah (Bumula) said the wanton graft plaguing the government will undo President Uhuru’s legacy.
The leaders spoke during a meeting at Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa’s home, and rallied behind DP Ruto while accusing the Uhuru-Raila handshake of messing up the government.
The leaders who were accompanied by Kakamega Senator Boniface Khalwale and a host of MCA’s said President Uhuru’s Big Four Agenda was likely to fail on account of rampant graft.
Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali called on ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula to join Ruto’s camp to secure a place in the next government.
“We need to develop our region, the only leader who can help us is Ruto, he is a sure bet, let’s all rally behind him, he has a huge support base,” said Washiali
At the same time, the legislator asked Uhuru to secure his legacy by decimating corruption before his term lapses.
The leaders also trained their guns on Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, asking him to step aside to allow for probe into an alleged multi-billion corruption scandal that has beleaguered the health ministry.
“Donor countries have threatened to cut their funding owing to the high level of corruption in theCOVID-19 funding,” he said.
