Goal looks at how the four nations in the pool have faired in the previous games and their chances of sealing qualification

Mapping Kenya’s group

As the African Cup of Nations qualifiers resume, Goal dissects how Kenya’s Group G looks heading into the final phase of the competitive journey

Kenya need magical performance

On three points, the Harambee Stars will need to win the games against Egypt at home and Togo away and hope Comoros are defeated in their respective qualifiers in order to qualify for Afcon.

Anything short of victories will see the Harambee Stars fail to win back-to-back Afcon slots yet again.

Eliminated Togo

Togo have been eliminated from the qualifiers already having picked up just one point from the four games that they have played.

Claude Le Roy’s side has conceded six goals, have only scored twice and even wins in the remaining qualifiers will not salvage their sealed fate.

Top Egypt and Comoros tight battle

Both countries have eight points but the Pharaohs are at the top courtesy of a plus three-goal difference.

The final qualifier in Moroni is expected to be a fierce battle as the Islanders will be hoping to get points that will take them to Afcon for the first time ever.

Dropped points

All the four nations have dropped points, by recording draws, from the initial four games that have already been played.

Kenya drew Egypt, Togo and Comoros while the Pharaohs were held to a goalless draw by Comoros and that explains why the group is still open for the three top teams.

Undefeated Egypt and Comoros

Although they were seen as minnows, Comoros are surprisingly unbeaten in the process and enjoy the same record as the African giants in some areas; they have won two games and drawn in as many so far.

Kenya have been defeated once by Comoros in Moroni by a 2-1 margin while Togo have tasted defeat twice against the Islanders and the Pharaohs.
