Amanda Nunes to defend title vs. Megan Anderson in December

For the third time in the past four years, UFC dual-weight champion Amanda Nunes will defend one of her titles in December.

Nunes (20-4) will face featherweight contender Megan Anderson (10-4) on Dec. 12 at a location to be determined, per multiple sources. The 145-pound contest will take place in a pay-per-view event, which is expected to be UFC 256.

Nunes, 32, is expecting the birth of her first child in September with partner and UFC strawweight Nina Ansaroff. After defending her featherweight title against Felicia Spencer in June, Nunes hinted at a potential break, but has ultimately decided to remain active. December has been a good month for her historically. Since 2016, she has defeated Ronda Rousey, Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Germaine de Randamie in the final month of the calendar year.

This will be the second consecutive defense of her featherweight championship and second defense of the title overall. She has also defended the bantamweight title five times.

Anderson, 30, is coming off a first-round knockout of Norma Dumont in February. She is 3-2 overall in the UFC, but all three of her wins have come via first-round stoppage. Her losses have come against Spencer and Holly Holm.
