Anthony Joshua has accepted terms for a highly anticipated fight against Tyson Fury to take place on Dec. 3, the Watford-born fighter’s team announced on Tuesday.
The 258MGT management company said it had accepted Fury’s terms on Friday but added it had temporarily paused communications after the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
“258 and Matchroom Boxing can confirm, on behalf of Anthony Joshua, that we accepted all terms presented to us by Fury’s team for a fight Dec. 3 last Friday,” 258MGT said in a post on Twitter.
“Due to the Queen’s passing, it was agreed to halt all communication.
“We are awaiting a response.”
Last week Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said the 32-year-old had accepted a 40-60% offer to fight Fury in an all-British clash.
Joshua failed to reclaim the WBA, IBF and WBO titles he lost to Oleksandr Usyk when he was beaten by the Ukrainian on a split decision in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last month.
Fury has flirted with retirement this summer but announced he would be ready to fight Joshua after Usyk said he would not fight again in 2022.
