Comedian Darryl Lynn Hughley was hospitalized on Friday night after he passed out on stage while performing a stand-up set.
The 57-year-old was in the middle of his comedy routine in front of an audience in Nashville, Tennessee when he took a turn.
The funnyman was performing at the Zanies Comedy Club when his speech became slurred before he fell to the ground and passed out.
A worrying video from the night sees D.L performing to an enthusiastic crowd as his speech gradually begins to slur.
The comedian then lost his balance and slumped down onto his stage stool before his manager rushed to try and steady him.
Staff working at the comedy club also hurried to try and help the star who eventually fell to the ground and appeared unresponsive.
D.L. was then carried off stage while an MC reassured the concerned crowd and urged them to stay calm among the unprecedented chaos.
Soon after, the comedian was rushed out of the club on a stretcher and an ambulance was called.
He was then driven to a nearby hospital for further tests.
Thankfully, the Match Game star has recovered from the shock collapse after spending the night in hospital.
In a statement from his representative, D.L. was said to be suffering from severe exhaustion due to a hectic schedule.
His reps told Variety that he was “suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel.
“Darryl Lynn was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders.
“He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayers and thoughts,” the statement concluded.
Darryl Lynn is best known for being the host of BET’s ComicView from 1992-1993.
He also starred in the ABC comedy The Hughleys and appearing in Spike Lee’s The Original Kings of Comedy as one of the featured comedians.
The comedian’s set took place on Juneteenth and was part of a virtual fundraiser dubbed the “Juneteenth Social Awareness-Thon”.
The event was to promote black empowerment and education while also raising money to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.
