Some 970 people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from 7,94 samples tested in the last 24 hours, Health Ministry has said.
Kenya’s positivity rate is now 12.2 per cent, with 237,851 confirmed cases and 2,388,858 tests conducted so far.
Another six hundred and twelve patients have recovered from the disease, ‘with 502 being discharged from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while one hundred and ten were discharged from various health facilities countrywide,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.
There are now 224,882 total recoveries.
Kenya has also lost seven patients to the coronavirus, ‘all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on August, 31.”
The Covid-19 death toll is now 4,746.
A total of 1,874 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,379 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. One hundred and forty-three patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), ninety-eight of whom are on ventilatory support and thirty-nine on supplemental oxygen.
As at September 1, 2021, the country has administered some 2,807,945 vaccines, and only 2.96 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated.
The Health Ministry received another consignment of the 459,300 AstraZeneca vaccine doses from Canada on Thursday morning (and not 358,200 doses as earlier reported.)
Health PS Susan Mochache who received the consignment at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport (JKIA) said the latest it will bolster the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
