DCI summons 48 KRA employees wanted in connection with tax fraud – Nairobi News

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has ordered 48 officials of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to immediately report to the nearest DCI offices.

The 48 individuals include 32 officers from KRA’s Domestic Taxes Department, 15 from the Customs and Border Control Department and one from the Investigations and Enforcement Department.

The DCI made the announcement in a tweet posted on the agency’s official Twitter handle late on Sunday evening.

The individuals are suspected to have gone into hiding after 41 of their colleagues were arrested on Friday for allegedly colluding with certain taxpayers in a criminal enterprise to evade payment of taxes and or reduce tax liability.

Those arrested in Nairobi were taken to the DCI headquarters for questioning and were due to be presented in court on Monday.
