After jet setting off to Milan for Fashion Week, it has been non-stop event after event. My body is physically drained but mentally I feel awake and stimulated. A large part of this is due to the amazing runway shows I am witnessing, while the other is due to my outfit choices! I took to the streets of Milan in looks that really felt true to my sense of style. They were comfortable, poignant, and stimulating all at once. I will always believe that the clothing you wear has an impact on your overall mood so I was very happy with my outfits this go around in Milan. Plus, street style is such a way of life – especially during big events like Fashion Week and boy – did I get a lot of photographers stopping me for photos! I put together a list of some of my current favorite outfits that incorporate this season’s hottest trends, while also being practical and realistic. Here are some fall street style looks that will certainly make people stop in their tracks to get a second glance.
Printed Pants
As yet another homage to the iconic early 2000s fashion, printed pants are back and better than ever this fall. I was really stoked to have incorporated these all-over houndstooth flared bottoms into my rotation of looks. Although this particular patterned garment seemingly started out as a microtrend, I really think this is a look that will only continue to gain momentum with each passing day. Printed pants also make for an incredible fall street style look as they are such a stand out piece that makes such a loud statement. With my houndstooth pair, I styled an oversized sweater emblazoned with the Margiela logo – another trend that is worthy enough to hit the streets in this fall.
Platform Boots
If you want to make your presence known, try stomping around in some sky high platform boots. This is a footwear style that begs to be seen and in all honesty – I really appreciate the extra height boost. In particular, these calf-high platform boots truly made me feel like a girl boss. I knew I wanted to show them off so I paired a Versace mini dress so the footwear could stand out on its own. If you are thinking how you could quite possibly make room for yet another pair of black booties, I am here to encourage you that they are worth every penny when it comes to creating a knockout look!
Oversized Silhouettes
It seems like there are a lot of different silhouettes that have been shifting to a looser fit these past few years. Notably, bottoms like denim and trousers have switched from skinny to more baggy, offering up a more relaxed and effortlessly chic aesthetic. The oversized trend continues on as we shift into fall and winter. I made sure to take advantage of this more comfortable trend in one of my recent Milan street style outfits. Not only did I opt for the loose, baggy trouser but I also paired it up with an equally oversized printed bomber jacket to emphasize this trend. Overall, I really adore the fluid, cozy feeling this outfit gives off!
Bold Monochrome
You know I appreciate a monochrome moment as much as the next girl so I had to pull out all the stops for this Max Mara look. Dripping in head-to-toe chili pepper red, this iconic three piece set was certainly a memorable favorite of mine! It was definitely a popular look amongst the street style photographers – maybe because I stood out so much! I thought it was such a minimal outfit that truly came to life thanks to the bold choice of stacked color. Going after a completely monochrome look is one of my best kept secrets when it comes to putting together a statement ensemble.
Colored Outerwear
The final look I want to discuss also heavily relies on color choice. Instead of a mash up of multiple pieces with a singular hue, this street style look focuses on one standout piece. I chose a gorgeous blue, jewel toned longline coat from Alberta Ferretti to layer over my fall outfit. The pieces underneath are rather simplistic but the addition of the pop color coat turns the look from plain Jane to style icon. This is an easy way to transform all of your autumnal outfits as a colored coat surprisingly can work with all different fits.
