Helwani Show to feature Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Nick Diaz

Do you smell what “The Rock” is cookin’? You will on Monday.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hollywood’s biggest action star and the man who recently strapped the “BMF” title around the waist of Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, will lead off Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, beginning at 1 p.m. ET.

But that’s not the only intriguing personality scheduled for Monday’s show. The popular Nick Diaz conducted his first interview with Helwani in five years.

Also set to appear are UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, former UFC titleholders Tyron Woodley and Rose Namajunas, top heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou and Demian Maia and Katlyn Chookagian, both of whom are on hot streaks.

The Rock offers advice to Masvidal, not surprised by Nate Diaz’s comments

After the UFC 244 main event, The Rock caught up with Jorge Masvidal and offered the BMF champ some advice.

“I reminded him what an incredible opportunity this is — to take advantage of it, continue to work hard, as, of course he is going to do,” said Johnson. “He loves to talk s—, as we all do down in Miami, because it’s what we do. But he also has a cool, sharp, smart wit about him, and he’s got his head in the right place, and his head being in the right place [has him] wanting to do everything he can to impact his own bottom line, and impact the company’s bottom line, which will, in turn, generate more income for himself, the company and for the fighters.

“He’s really making sure that his value is being realized. I also told him, with his turning of the corner, if you will, and I’m sure he’s going to be fighter of the year in 2019, he has an opportunity to be one of the greatest of all time. You can kind of see this trajectory happening with Jorge Masvidal where he can become very big — obviously a main event player in the game.

“I also just reminded him that he has this really cool, calm humility to him, which I think is very unique. A lot of fighters try and find this balance of self-promoting themselves, as well they should, but also have this bit of humility, because that’s the basis and the grounds and the foundation of MMA — it’s having that discipline and having a little bit of humility.

“He said, with a smile, ‘Man, I’ve always got that.’ And he said, ‘Look, I’m going to need you now at every fight, you’re my good luck charm. I’m going to have to find you.’ And I said, ‘You’re not going to have to look hard man, I’ve got your back.'”

Ngannou looking for a fight

Francis Ngannou is frustrated as he sits on the sidelines of the heavyweight division. He’s asked for the UFC to give him an opponent.
