Huduma Namba points deserted after Uhuru’s deadline extension – Nairobi News

Short queues were witnessed in Huduma Namba registration centres on Saturday hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a one-week .

At the Huduma Centre in General Post Office, its was a sharp contrast from the pushing and shoving that was witnessed on Friday.

Staff directed those enquiring about Huduma Namba registration to the neighbouring Nyayo House registration centre which were lying idle.

“We are not closed, the reports we received from Nyayo House and City Square was that they had no customers so we asked our customers who wish to seek the services from there. We will be here till 4pm,” he said before proceeding to open the doors wide.

At the neighbouring Nyayo House registration centre, the queues were shorter with a handful waiting to be served by the nine clerks available.

The few Nairobians on queue told Nairobi News that they have learnt from Friday’s experience and were avoiding another last minute rush.

“I was here yesterday and the long queue discouraged me and I opted to be left out of the registration but when they extended I decided to come today. The queue is very short and I have only waited for an hour,” one Peter told Nairobi News.

The President directed the National Inter-ministerial Committee for implementation of the programme to extend the registration for a week.

Registration will end at 6pm on May 25.
