Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has referred to the big win in the concluded by-elections by the “sacred alliance” is a taste of how it will win seats in 2022.
Kalonzo said the “alliance” brings together Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Wiper.
Speaking on Saturday after he met Makueni Wiper leaders at Salama, he said the alliance is unstoppable.
He added that the country’s top seat should not be left in the hands of plunders of public resources.
“The 2022 win is coming naturally on our side and we won’t accept this country to be left in the hands of thieves. We know them and we will point them out,” the former Vice President said.
“Parties that lost in Matungu, Kabuchai and Kitise/Kithuki are in trouble. This is a preparation for 2022. The way people voted in these by-elections is the same way they will vote next year.
“God Himself is leading this alliance.”
Kalonzo said the cases of violence witnessed on the election day were motivated by the fact that the electorate did not want any rigging to take place.
However, he rebuked the incident in which an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official was slapped by former Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa. Kalonzo called for stern action to be taken.
“We should not fight over elections. That was a bad picture. You can’t slap an election official.”
The Wiper leader criticised Makueni Govenor Kivutha Kibwana for sponsoring a Muungano party candidate in the concluded Kitise/Kithuki mini poll, where a Wiper candidate won.
He said it was wrong for Kibwana to have used his support to win the 2017 poll but later become defiant.
“It’s wrong to hang on a party leader’s shoulders and changing thereafter. I don’t think there will be anyone who will try to use Muungano party to vie in Makueni because they will get no seat,” he said.
Kilome MP Thaddeus Nzambia expressed his confidence that Wiper will take the Machakos senatorial position on the by-election slated for March 18.
“This “alliance” that has taken almost all seats in the by-elections will produce the President.”
