Kalonzo clarifies Prezzo not Wiper candidate in Kibra

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has clarified that the party did not nominate Jackson Makini to run for the Kibra by-election.

Kalonzo received Makini, popularly known as Prezzo, who joined the party today.

He says Prezzo has expressed interest in being the party’s candidate in the Kibra election in 2022.”Today at the Wiper Democratic Movement Headquarters I received Jackson Ngechu Makini aka CMB Prezzo who joined the Wiper

Movement officially. Prezzo intends to vie in Kibra Constituency in the 2022 General Elections.”

With the Kibra by-election slated for November 7, Wiper Party tweeted, “Jackson Makini aka Prezzo will vie for Kibra MP on a Wiper Ticket.”

Earlier on, reports had indicated that Prezzo would vie for the Kibra parliamentary by-election.

That was after he was photographed being received by Kalonzo at the party’s headquarters.

The rapper’s unforeseen move to join politics caught most Kenyans off-guard.

Prezzo joins a growing number of artistes quitting music for politics, the most recent being Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar.

According to Kalonzo, Wiper decided not to field a candidate because ODM had already picked one, yet they had beaten the party in the Embakasi South by-election.

“We decided as Wiper we will not have a candidate for now,” said Kalonzo.
