The Los Angeles Lakers are waiving DeMarcus Cousins, league sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.
Cousins is recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee, suffered during an offseason workout, and has not played all season.
On Thursday, coach Frank Vogel said Cousins was “a long way off.”
The Lakers will need flexibility in their roster if they are to add a player before the playoff run. Players who complete buyouts before March 1 are eligible for postseason rosters.
Cousins is a four-time All-Star with the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors and Lakers.
