A suspect identified as Robert Bodo has been arrested over the murder of Kevin Omwenga in Kilimani estate, Nairobi.
Bodo was arrested on Saturday morning and a mini Ceska firearm recovered with 13 rounds of ammunition.
It is suspected that this is what was used in the fatal shooting at Galana Suites apartment on Friday.
“The firearm, which has been kept as an exhibit, will be subjected to ballistic analysis as further investigations ensue to unravel the motive of the shooting,” the DCI said on twitter.
A police report seen by Citizen Digital indicates that the deceased was a motor vehicle dealer.
According to the brother Wycliff Omwenga, he was in the kitchen preparing supper when he heard gunshot coming from the bedroom.
“On rushing there, he found Robert Bodo in a hurry to leave. On entering the bedroom, he found Kevin lying on his back with blood oozing from his chest,” the police report reads.
He rushed him to Nairobi Women’s Hospital Adams branch where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Bodo apparently joined them at the hospital later that evening after which they all proceeded to Kilimani Police Station.
The suspect was arrested and led the police to Senteu Plaza which is adjacent to Galana Suites: this is where the gun and ammunition were discovered.
“It was found kept in a safe in an office which was alleged to belong to one Chris Obure who is also suspected to be the owner of the firearm,” the police report adds.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Montezuma mortuary pending postmortem.
Police are also hunting for Chris Obure.
