Pablo Escobar’s nephew found Sh2 billion stash hidden in wall of drug lord’s house

Pablo Escobar’s nephew found £14million in a plastic bag hidden in a wall at one of the drug lord’s houses in Colombia. Nicolas Escobar claimed a “vision” told him exactly where to look for the cash in the Medellin apartment he has lived in for the past five years.

He also found a gold pen, a typewriter, satellite phones, a camera and an undeveloped roll of film. It is not the first time Nicolas says he has found money in unusual places, as his uncle had to stash it. But he said many of the notes had begun to decay and were not usable. Nicolas’s father Roberto, Escobar’s brother and accountant, once said: “We would spend as much as £2,000 a month on rubber bands just to hold the money together.

Four years before his 1993 death in a shoot-out with police, US business magazine Forbes listed Escobar as the world’s seventh richest man with a £19billion fortune. At the height of his reign over the Medellin Cartel in the late 1980s, he controlled 80% of the world’s cocaine consumption.
