Pain, grief as woman who delivered quintuplets passes on – VIDEO – Nairobi News

Evelyn Namukhula, the 28-year-old woman who last month gave birth to quintuplets has died in hospital.

According to the deceased’s brother, the mother of nine reportedly complained of chest pains at around 10 pm Saturday night.

The doctor put her on treatment for blood clotting and antibiotics and then ordered for tests to confirm what the problem was.

“We lost her at about 12 midday after the test — a CT angiogram — was done which showed that the heart was enlarged with fluid around it and the lungs also had fluid,” said Wilson Aruasa, CEO, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

She had been transferred from Kakamega General Hospital due to concerns about the health of one of her babies.

SURVIVING BABIES

Last week, two of her babies succumbed to death. Aruasa said the two, who were boys, were very sick when they were admitted to the hospital from Kakamega General Hospital where they were born.

“There were five babies but the two boys were very sick and have also died. But the three girls are okay and growing well,” said Dr Aruasa.

Ms Namukhula gave birth to three girls and two boys on March 13, 2019, through a Caesarean Section at Kakamega General Hospital and that made her gain national fame.

Namukhula has left behind a widower, Herbert Wawire, with whom she had had four other babies before the famous quintuplets’ birth, making them the parents of nine children.
