Rapper AKA’s message on testing positive for Covid-19

South African rapper, songwriter and record producer Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known as AKA, has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement dated July 10, 2020, the Western Cape bred star stated that he is in self-isolation having undertaken precautionary measures outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and South African health officials.

The ‘Touch My Blood’ hitmaker added that he will be sharing his road to recovery in a transparent manner and noted that he chose to make his results public in a bid to sensitize the masses on the novel coronavirus.

The multi-award-winning entrepreneur went on to plead with his compatriots to be cautious in their daily interactions and called for adherence of Covid-19 prevention and mitigation measures such as the wearing of masks and observance of social distancing.

“AKA has tested positive for the novel Covid-19 virus. In an attempt to create awareness around the virus and to caution citizens to be more careful in their daily interactions with others, AKA has chosen to make his results public. AKA pleads for everyone to adhere to social distancing guidelines, to wear masks and to hold stringent hygiene measures by frequently sanitising and washing our hands,” read the statement in part.

Reiterating that he is ‘strong and quite upbeat” in a series of follow-up posts on his Twitter account, the father of one emphasized the importance of Covid-19 testing and listed some of the symptoms he experienced.

“As soon as you feel that cough coming on, that headache . . . weakness in your muscles. Chills at night. Trust me. Go test ASAP. There are places where they do the swab at the back of your throat, not that insane up your nose one. Do it so you can know what you dealing with,” tweeted the Victory Lap crooner.
