Former Louisville offensive tackle and top NFL draft prospect Mekhi Becton is aware of a flagged drug test from the scouting combine and has addressed it with multiple clubs while still awaiting official notification, a source told ESPN.
The 6-foot-7, 364-pound Becton is seventh on Mel Kiper Jr.’s Big Board after running the 40-yard dash in 5.10 seconds at the combine.
It’s being stressed that Becton didn’t have a history of failed tests in college and does not have a substance abuse problem, the source said.
Teams had been checking in Saturday morning and Becton still has several virtual calls lined up beyond Saturday, according to the source.
“I would tell you it would be a surprise if he has a failed test,” Louisville athletic director Vince Tyra told ESPN. “He’s just been a model student-athlete for us. … I’m not worried about him. He is going to have a great career. I don’t think he’s going to be any trouble for any teams.”
